Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi Mushroom)
Boswellia carteri (Frankincense)
Curcuma longa (Turmeric)

Recommended Dose:  1 - 3 droppers full a day for a minimum of 30 days unless experiencing negative side effects then reduce or discontinue use.

Ganoderma lucidum is also referred to as the reishi mushroom and is both harvested locally in a pristine location free of air, water and soil pollution; or is cultivated naturally in a controlled environment to ensure the product is of the highest quality.

The reishi mushroom has many medicinal properties that have been proven scientifically and anecdotally.  It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for more than 2000 years. Reishi has been proven to modulate and balance the immune system so when the immune system is overactive, such as in an auto-immune condition (rheumatoid arthritis), it brings it back into balance.  Similarly, when your immune system is underactive, it brings it back into check to help fight bacteria, viruses and even cancer.  Reishi has also been proven to calm nerves and fight insomnia and as such is good for anxiety, stress and panic. Reishi can help reduce inflammation in the joints and works to restore balance to hormones.  It has also been suggested to be of assistance to those with allergies and asthma and is a slight diuretic for those suffering from edema.

Contraindications: reishi can potentially interfere with immune-suppressing medication and caution should be exercised and a medical doctor consulted in such instances.  In rare cases, during the first few days of taking reishi, some who are extra sensitive to stimuli, may experience detoxification effects such as a slight rash, digestive upset, achy bones and dizziness.  These side effects normally disappear within a few days.  If they exist for extended periods, reduce the dose or discontinue use.  Taking vitamin C may reduce the side effects in these rare instances.

Boswellia carteri is a shrub native to India that produces sap or resin in its later life. This sap, more commonly referred to as frankincense, is both fragrant and medicinal and has been used for many years in Ayurvedic medicine. Recent scientific studies show that the sap contains boswellic acids that are potent anti-inflammatories, can reduce asthma symptoms, rheumatic conditions, gastrointestinal problems such as irritable bowel syndrome, colitis and even depression.  Recent scientific literature suggests that taking Boswellia together with turmeric produces a more potent anti-inflammatory effect than using a single agent, and as such, has been indicated in arthritic conditions for inflammation and pain.

According to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in the US, Boswellia has shown fewer negative effects than steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs used for osteoarthritis.

Contraindications:
Slight gastrointestinal effects (heartburn, upset stomach and diarrhea) are possible if the recommended dose is exceeded.  Reduce the dose or discontinue use if negative side effects persist. Boswellia should not be taken by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Curcuma longa root also known as the common spice curcumin or turmeric, has been studied widely for nearly 4000 years in both traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. It is well known for its multitude of medicinal properties. Laboratory studies and clinical trials indicate that it is a potent anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-aging and mood stabilizing botanical.  Studies and anecdotal evidence suggests it may be effective in those with indigestion, bloating, gas and heartburn. There is preliminary evidence that suggests it may be indicated in heart conditions as well.

Contraindications: Although generally considered safe when taken as directed, large doses of turmeric may cause stomach upset or in rare cases, ulcers.  Turmeric should be avoided if taking anticoagulant medication such as warfarin or heparin or on daily doses of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as  aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen as it may increase the chance of bleeding. People with diabetes or gallstones and pregnant or nursing women should not take turmeric extracts without first consulting with a medical doctor.
