Dana Wood, RH
Dana Wood is a Registered Herbalist in Beausejour, Manitoba and a Professional Member of the Ontario Herbalists Association. She obtained her Certified Chartered Herbalist diploma from one of North America's oldest herbal colleges - The Dominion College of Herbal Medicine (est. 1926).
Dana is also an Engineering Technologist, graduate of the Bio-Engineering and Chemical Technology program at Red River College in Winnipeg. She has over 20 years of combined experience working as both a quality lab technologist and a research scientist.
Additionally, she has undertaken nearly 100 hours of shamanic spiritual healing instruction including plant spirit medicine from a registered Foundation of Shamanic Studies.
Dana (Blue Thunderbird Woman), is a Metis descendant of both the Ojibwe and Cree peoples of Canada. She has always been an outdoor advocate and have a special affinity to the remote wilderness areas of Manitoba - in the pristine boreal forest.
When her teenage daughter Darah passed away from Ewing Sarcoma cancer at the age of only 14 years old, she was immediately inspired to look deeper into traditional spiritual and herbal medicine of the early indigenous peoples with hopes of incorporating these practices with conventional medicine and treatment as an integrative and all-encompassing holistic approach to healing. This is what brought her to fulfill her passion of becoming a herbal practitioner. Dana is also a teacher of traditional and science-based herbal medicine and is often asked to lead medicine walks and wellness events.
There are over 4000 species alone of medicinal plants in Canada and it is her goal to be able to learn as much as possible in my time here on this beautiful earth so that shecan pass this invaluable information on. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 80% of the world's population is using herbal medicine for some form of primary health care. She is one of them.
